How to Use
HARIO Coffee Syphon
1. Attach the filter to the upper glass bowl stem like the picture.
2. Add a level spoonful per cup (about 10 g or 0.35 oz) of ground coffee into the upper bowl.
3. Pour water or hot water into the lower bowl to the desired level (120 ml per cup). Adjust the wick of the alcohol burner to about 3mm and place the burner directly under the lower bowl. Light the burner and make sure that the flame hits the center of the bottom of the lower bowl.
4. Position the upper bowl on an angle on lower bowl before boiling. When water starts to boil, gently press the upper bowl into an upright position. Do not apply a strong force. The heat causes the air to expand and pushes the water into the upper bowl.
5. When water from the lower bowl rises to the upper bowl, use the attached spoon to gently stir contents in upper bowl. Heat for 40 to 60 seconds. Since the lower bowl will be almost empty, take extreme care not to overheat.
6. Move the stand away from the heat source. Wait for coffee to drip naturally into the lower bowl. Do not move the burner without extinguished the flame.
7. Remove the upper bowl by gently rocking it back and forth. Then place it on upper bowl stand.
8. You now have a perfect pot of coffee to be served straight into the cup.
